Gunnar does not want his balls in a pile.

Gunnar did not like his balls in a pile while I was trying to make a picture of them. So he came over and took the pile down.

Happy Mother's Day Take Two!!

So, we decided that since we were having my mom, and Caitlin's mom and sister over the day before Mother's day, that we would spend actual Mother's Day with my Step-Mom Maggie at her house. We hung out and ate ribs (nice cookin' dad) and played Wii Fit. We had a great time hanging out with Maggie and Dad and my sis Brittany! One thing that surprised me is that they actually OWN some HoolaHoops AND use them!!! I kind of always thought that those things were mythical. Like a slinky. Or Rubik's cube. Maybe everyone had one but it never got used. Well I don't know, but it was a very funny surprise to me. So we used them. As you can see we took Gunnar with us and he was not interested in the HoolaHoop. Anyhow, we had a great Mother's day at Dad and Maggie's, we hope they did too!

We finally saw Avatar

In 3D, with some friends.

Apartment Tour #1

We have finally begun getting our place in order. Our style could be defined as a mid century modern. We like the vintage pieces, but not completely vintage. We like a mix of the old and the new. We were able to stumble across some amazing finds for our place Our living room looks out to Forest Park, which is one of the countries urban forest preserves. We have a wonderful wall to wall window, but the shears give us some privacy to the hundreds of runners, hikers, and bikers that walk by to get to the trail head. We have a few vintage reproduction pieces - the Eames rocker and the Arc lamp, but we were able to score a few authentic vintage pieces for a steal...the credenza was found on Craigslist for a mere $30!! We also found the TV on the side of the road...yes it actually works.A plant in your home supposedly cleans 80% of the air pollution in your home within the first 24 hours...hopefully I can keep it alive. Gunnar really only cares about a few things in this world: the couch, the bed, bones, and tennis balls. I love that we've been gaining quite a collection of art books! It's fun to be able to display Chris' photography. We have a very, very tiny bedroom. We chose to use the 2nd bedroom for sleeping, which gives us lots of room in the master bedroom for photography and crafts. It isn't finished yet. In fact you can see we still need a bedskirt. And I'm still working on the quilt that will go at the end of the bed. This clock was such a fun project...see the before below. Chris made this elephant for me in his bronze casting class when we were still dating. I love it! Our hallway connects the two bedrooms and bathroom (amazing huh, hallways connect rooms). We love our superman and superwoman poster. Behind the curtain is a huge closet, but it will never be organized, so it's better to hide all the stuff.

Happy Mother's Day!!

I love to host things. Bible studies, brunches, birthday parties, baby showers...you name it, I love it. I'm pretty sure I drive Chris crazy since he doesn't understand why the table runner must match the flowers, but he loves me enough to let me do it. Today we hosted my mom, sister, and mother in law for a Mother's Day brunch. It was such a nice time getting to celebrate with the moms in my life. There was a pink, green and brown theme. I made these amazing vanilla bean scones, this amazing quiche, and served it with a lovely fruit salad and mimosas. I'm really not being conceited...a shout out to both The Pioneer Woman and Paula Dean for two amazing, fail proof recipes. This artwork was made by yours truly, with a little help from hubby with the Illustrator program. And yes, yes, I admit, even my outfit matched the party. The broach was made using this tutorial.

C is for decor.

So this is the letter C. It is sitting on the corner of my desk. Caitlin has one too. Hers is sitting next to her sewing machine, on her desk.
