Praise God for Happy Tears

Okay, okay so we've been quite blog delinquent lately...we're sorry. But this is not a post about us. We are publicly announcing that our dear friends Joel and Peggy have welcomed the newest members of their family. Sierra and Zealand. Many of you have been praying for this family after you have heard their story. The twins were born at 31.1 weeks but are doing very well. They are beautiful!! I'm sorry for not posting pictures, but since this blog is public I don't have permission to post the pictures. They were both a little over 3 pounds. We can't be happier for these two wonderful friends. Praise God!!!

Gold Medals

Timely? I don't know. I got an email today from the Photography department head at Portfolio Center, my school in Atlanta. It was about a project that we did as a class shooting things that had to do with Georgia and Gold. As many of you remember (or not) I shot a lot of Olympic gold medal winners from Georgia. Some Special Olympians and Paralympians as well. The exhibit originally hung in a museum in Atlanta called the Fernbank, now that exhibit is done. BUT, it has traveled to the Cincinnati Museum where it will hang until May 16th, 2010! Here is a blog from Neenah Paper that has a story about us. Of course they chose the photo in which I seem most disinterested. Neenah blog LINK Cincinnati Museum LINK So now my photo story will basically double the number of eyes that see it. Maybe, just maybe this could lead to some work!

NEW YEAR NEW POST

Okay so it's not like it's still the 1st, but here is our first post of 2010! It's the 7th, and on the 11th we get keys to our new place. It is called THE MACLEAY and it is in NW Portland up on 29th and Upshur. Most of you have no idea where that is, neither did I until about two weeks ago. It's a cool little neighborhood-ish area just west of NW 23rd. Here is a photo of the outside, where the signage is. The building was built in '66 out of cinder blocks. For you that live in Ardmore, when you visit, it will feel like home. It is kind of mid century modern, kind of not, but all cool. I think we will really enjoy ourselves living up there.

date

So yesterday I had an impromptu meeting with a Portland photographer whose work I really respect. I got to meet him and show him my book. When I asked him to give me some real feedback he was a bit taken aback but totally delivered me some great input on the book. One thing that I'm doing right now is planning a new book, already. I'd like to have it printed soon. Okay to the point of the post. Since my meeting landed me in the Hawthorne district, and Cait works in NW, we met up and had some happy hour grub at McMenamins. Then we took a walk around NW and scored some Moonstruck hot cocoa. Great night. I love Portland. As a good friend in ATL says: Peace, Love, Portland!

23rd and Pettygrove

Im sitting in a coffee shop called Vivace on Pettygrove and 23rd in NW Portland and I am happy. I'm thinking about what it would be like to live up here. We could walk or ride bikes to ANYthing we could need. Caitlin could walk to work. I would be able to go to Pro Photo Supply within minutes, and there are plenty of neighborhoods for us to walk the G-dog. Hmmm. Dreams. Anyhow, I need to get to work trying to get work. But I thought I'd throw that out there.
