My hubby's home!!!

Chris returned home yesterday afternoon after a week at sea assisting a photographer. It was a very long week for both of us. For him, because he worked long hours and for me because I was all alone and we couldn't have any form of communication (unless you count the 1 text message I received daily from him). I knew that we would have a lot to talk about when he got home, so I planned to go for a picnic that afternoon so we could sip some wine and have a little snack while discussing our week. I also decided that I would give Chris a hint about this as well, so I wrote him one card a day and tied them with a ribbon and hid them in his suitcase. Each card contained one clue to the surprise. Well...we got to have our picnic, but it was so cold outside we had it on our living room floor. After a few hours of discussing our week, we took a four hour nap because neither of us had slept all week.

An Update

I haven't written for awhile. There is a reason for this. Chris has been out of town since last Saturday. I don't do very well having to stay alone and freak myself out. I purposely didn't write just incase there were any weirdos out there reading this and learning I was alone. I know, I'm a little paranoid...oh well. Chris returned safely home today. Yayyy

A Much Needed Gift

Often times being a nurse is a very thankless job. Sure patients are pleasant most of the time, but they never really get that you're trying your hardest to keep everything straight, not screw up, please doctors, get on to the next patient quickly without them noticing, and try to give them the very best care possible. So today after a very busy week last week, a patient just made my day. She's now pregnant and just to come by and say thank you she brought me a thank you card, some chocolate, and a small gift. These small gestures make me remember that I am making a difference, even when most days I don't feel like it. So if you're ever a patient and you feel like a nurse is doing a good job, let them know, you have no idea how good it makes us feel.

Competition in Bed

Most wives complain about their husbands in bed. How they move around alot and take of most of the space. But not me, nope, I have a husband that sleeps very nicely in the same spot he fell asleep in....but I do have to fight for space and covers with somebody else...Gunnar. I guess I have no one to blame but myself for creating this monster.

An unexpected trip

Both Chris and I have been frustrated lately because of how busy both of us are that we really haven't had time to spend together. Most of our time has been late at night laying on the couch. We were frustrated we were sort of in a rut. On Sunday I got home from work at about 1 and the sun was shinning. After we had lunch we talked about going to the park with the dog. However, we decided to find out if there was somewhere we could go that we hadn't seen yet that wasn't too far away, because we had our small group in 4 hours. We decided to check out Serenbe which is a farm to table community that is about an hour south of our house. The community is still under construction, but there are farms, homes, inns, boutiques, galleries, and restaurants all focusing on the farm to table idea. This was one of the expensive homes that was for sale, about a million dollars, but it was beautiful. One day I'll get a kitty. There are tons of trails all throughout the property. We didn't have much time once we got there to explore, so our plan is to go back another time, maybe spend the night. We went into a photography gallery and met this great Australian guy, it was actually a great networking trip for Chris. He recommended we get a cup of coffee at the Blue Daisy Cafe. The cafe was one of the cutest things ever. They had great sweet tea and really yummy coconut cupcakes. We enjoy living in the city and being close to everything, but we realized how relaxed we both feel when we get away from the city as well.
