Merry Christmas to All

Merry Christmas. We hope all of you are doing well and are enjoying your day. Our snow has started to melt, so we may get out of the house soon. Chris took pictures of our neice and nephew yesterday. Here's our favorites.

and it continues

In my entire life of living in the NW I have never seen this much snow. For all of our friends living in the south I promise if you ever come out here THIS IS NOT NORMAL!! We have basically been stuck inside now since we flew into PDX. We didn't buy any presents before we left because we didn't want to have to carry them, now we're hoping to brave the weather today to go out and shop. We're supposed to have 4 more inches tomorrow so this may be the only chance. We spent yesterday sledding with my nephew. Chris was able to get out his snowboard.

The Snow Continues

First of let me just say that we feel extrememly blessed that we actually made it into Portland. As of this afternoon most flights into and out of PDX were canceled. We had plans to do a lot of things while we were here...go to the beach, see Multnomah Falls, hang out downtown, Stumptown, McMenamins, and of course see all the people we haven't seen in a long time. Well those plans have changed. There's about 8 inches of snow on the ground with an inch of ice covering it, and my parents live on a really big hill. Needless to say we're not going very far. My sister and brother in law and their 2 kids live at the bottom of the hill, so we walked down there to hang out. Chris and my nephew Cody had fun in the street on the ATV while I got to hang out inside with my sis and neice Addie. Then we walked back up the hill to hang out with my parents. I spent some time knitting by the fire and my dad and Chris played some backgammon.

tomorrow

Tomorrow we fly home to Portland. Good ole Stumptown. It is snowing there and I am not sure that I remember what it is like to be in snow. We are so very excited to get home and play in the snow, ride the fourwheeler (please Joe let us ride it), throw snowballs, maybe go sledding or snowboarding, and of course just see our friends and family. For our family here in Atlanta, we will miss you all, very much, we wish you could all come with us...we have lots of luggage... Anyway, we'll try to blog our time at home, so watch for photos. Merry Christmas to all!!

Chris begs you all!

if you are reading this you should know that I, Chris, have entered a really great photo contest and need your help. please go here: http://contest.pdnedu.com/bin/Rate and vote for my photo. it is currently on the top of the second page. Look for the two sisters and the lollypop in front of the pink polka dot background...this is my Envy image in my 7 deadly sins series. all it takes is a valid email address and about 30 seconds. Please I beg you all go vote! It worked for Obama! Oh and speaking of that, the photo that is winning, its not even any good, it just so happens to be of Obama, what a lame way to lose a contest. PLEASE PLEASE GO VOTE FOR ME! You can vote more than once (as many times as you have email addresses, if you have ten emails you can vote ten times), just close the window, then go back to it and use a different email address. thanks, Chris

Mustard Seed Ministries

Andy and Serenity Coulombe and their three children are currently traveling the country in an RV to minister to the homeless and poor in America. They are a family from our church in Oregon. They made it to Atlanta on Monday and were here for a week. They were able to spend a few days with us, which was such a blessing to us seeing familiar faces from the west and just listening to their stories. They left today to go to Chatanooga because they need to get the RV repaired. Funds are limited for them and I just ask that you lift them up in prayer...let me just tell you though, I'm amazed by their faith. Avery helped me make the frosting for the cake. Andy and Avery played a few boxing matches on the Wii We helped them make sandwiches to take to the homeless...but they never made it downtown, cause the RV broke down. To learn more about their ministry please visit the link on the right hand side under our friends.

...countdown...

So today is the 12th, that means that we will be kissing the ground at PDX in exactly 8 days. We are so totally stoked on that! However, for our family here in the A (that's Atlanta) we are so sad not to be able to spend Christmas with y'all. But we'll try to bring back some snow for you.

Quick update

Life has been pretty crazy this last week. Chris is getting ready to critique for his 5th quarter, and I must say his work this quarter is pretty amazing. We celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary on Friday the 5th (wow...what's the deal with 5th?) We have been crazy busy and didn't really even have time to celebrate, but it was really special anyways. Chris sent me flowers at work, which probably doesn't seem all that special to many of you, but normally he brings flowers home to me. So I loved that he actually took the time to figure out the address to my work (and we do have 4 offices, so he had to figure out which one). He also had the florist put in these cook branches in the flowers, because the traditional 5th anniversary gift is wood. I love getting gifts that have thought behind them. Then we had dinner at a brewery right outside of Atlanta, which is always one of Chris' favorite places to eat. We spent this weekend getting our christmas cards ready and took our friends christmas card pictures as well. Then they took us out to dinner at Mary Macs Tea Room...YUMMMMMMMM. Thanks Kyle and Regan. Sorry I'm not posting any pictures...it's too late to get out the USB cord. Night.

And the Countdown Begins...

Only 17 more days until we come back to the NW for Christmas. We are looking forward to seeing so many of you!

I'm feeling old

Yes, I realize that I'm only 27 years old, but I feel old today. My hubby turned 30 today. I never thought I'd feel this way. So for Chris' birthday he was stuck at school printing. In fact I left him there tonight at 11pm and probably won't see him until tomorrow. So I made him a Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake and took it, candles and all to him at school. It was yummy

Thanksgiving X 2 Part 2

So blogger is acting funny so I had to do these in two posts. We spent the actual day of thanksgiving with Kyle and Regan and it was truly homemade. Everything was homemade. We even made pumpkin pie with real pumpkins, not the canned kind. Seriously the best pie I have ever had. Kyle brought his projector home from work and we played Wii, giant sized.

Thanksgiving x 2

So this was our second Thanksgiving away from the NW. Although we didn't get to spend it with biological family, we were able to enjoy the holiday with our Atlanta family. We celebrated on Sunday night with our small group. It was a blast. Chris and I hosted it and I was able to go all out decorating the house. Even sophie (the Yorkie was able to join in the festivities.

Chris' one thing

1. I just read Caitlin's last post, you know the one about me...and I almost cried, and I'm at work. I love my wife.
  • Take note you other women that have already done 100 things about themselves...do one for your man too, it will definitely be a huge ego stroke!

    Garden Delight

The other day I went out to our garden to cut some parsley, and much to my delight found out that our broccoli has grown! So tonight we picked it and plan to eat it with dinner. Well, I will, but Chris has a photo shoot. So he'll have to have some later. But does anybody know what's wrong with my lettuce? Does it normally flower?

    Fall Thing

Yesterday was the "Fall Thing" at our church. It was a fun day hanging out with everyone and eating chili, yum! I was also able to meet Karen. Karen occassionally writes comments on our blog, but I could never figure out who she was. Everytime she wrote a comment I would go to her blog and read and try my hardest to find out how knew eachother. It turns out we had never met, but in this age of blogging she had found my blog. It was really fun to meet her.

    From Poles to Pews

When we moved to Atlanta we knew that we would have to spend some time searching for a new church. We visited many places and were welcomed with open arms at all of them. None of them felt quite right. Then we stumbled on CCB. At first we thought that it would just be a good replacement for the home church we had left. It only took us a few weeks to realize we were wrong. Though our two churches have their differneces, both are just as special to us. We have made wonderful friends that have become our family. Tonight was just one of the things that makes our church so special. Every few months they have a volunteer dinner, just to say thank you to all the volunteers. Our church actually opened its doors at a strip joint. They took over a famous strip club in Atlanta (we've since stopped meeting there) and the pastor that started our church came back tonight to speak at the dinner. He talked about how we made the news all over the place with the heaadline: "From Poles to Pews". We love our church! And this is the back of Jen and Ian...they're so cute.

    Yes, I'm a perfectionist

I was asked to make some baked thank you gifts for a group of volunteers at our church. I decided to make biscotti. I've never made it before, but I am a pretty good baker, so trying a new recipe was fun. But when it comes to sharing my baking with others I'm a perfectionist. So now there is a whole bag full of not perfect enough biscotti that didn't make the final cut to be given away. Come have some!

    Naked Cowboy

So how did I possibly forget to post this picture Chris sent me from NY?

    New York

So Chris is in New York this week with some people from his school. They are at a photography convention. I am very jealous that he is there without me, not to mention that I don't do well being alone at night.
